The founders of SCMPLUS:
Ruanthi was responsible in establishing the Supply Chain Management (SCM) Unit at Bernhard Schulte Ship Management(BSM) Group for its over 650 vessels. She was attached to the Schulte group for over 11 years including being the Director Management Accounting for its Eurasia group. As the Global Director SCM, at BSM, she was responsible in bringing about a new procurement culture within the group, leading to significant reductions in vessel OPEX and increased company profitability.
Ruanthi holds a Doctorate from the University of Newcastle in Australia where her thesis was on the "Management of Intellectual Capital and its impact on Seafarer Retention."
She holds an MBA from University of Hull in UK and her research dissertation was based on "make or buy" decisions under the title of "To own or not to own - A ship operator's dilemma"
Ruanthi is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accounts of UK.
Ruanthi’s career spans four decades covering agency shipping, freight forwarding, chartering, liner shipping and ship management. She was a key member of the Ceylon Shipping Corporation Team that introduced Containerization to Sri Lanka in 1978.
Between 1981 and 2003 she worked in reputed shipping companies such as Neptune Orient Lines Singapore, John Keells Group in Sri Lanka, Hapag Lloyd Asia based in Singapore, in senior Managerial Roles.
Between 1995-2003 freelancing from Australia, she worked in Senior Consulting roles in world class shipping companies such as Pacific International Lines Singapore, Sea Consortium Singapore, Inchcape Shipping Asia Pacific Office in Hong Kong, Thompson Clarke Shipping Sydney and Samudera Indonesia.
Ruanthi was the recipient of the "2015 Personality of the Year" award conferred by WISTA (Sri Lanka) branch.
